The 2nd Berlin Municipal Property Conference

was hosted by Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) on 19 August 2019. Over 230 interested parties from public administration, industry, and civil society convened on the first floor of the “Alte Münze", which is part of the city’s property portfolio itself. Participants on the podium and during breaks animatedly discussed the various facets of the event’s topic “Between Space Constraints and Policy Making – Challenges of Property Policy”. Following the conference, there was an opportunity to intensify discussions during an informal get-together.

5 Years of German-Turkish Youth Bridge

in light of this anniversary, the initiative invited alumni, partners, and friends to a future forum in Berlin from 16-18 September 2019. Following a kick-off at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on 16 September, around 150 youths and adults from Turkey and Germany met for two days for a series of workshops at the "Magazin in der Heeresbäckerei". On the afternoon of 17 September, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas joined the anniversary event for a couple of hours. He answered questions in a general forum and discussed the challenges and opportunities of German-Turkish youth exchange with the young participants. In the evening, the last few years were properly celebrated with food and music.

3. Shimon Peres Award Ceremony

Since 2017, the Federal Foreign Office has been awarding the Shimon-Peres-Prize in cooperation with the German-Israeli Future Forum (DIZF) once a year. Since 2018, greenstorming has been supporting the DIZF with its organization. On 15 September 2019, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko bestowed this honor in the presence of the Peres family and in front of 350 guests at the Rotes Rathaus (town hall) in Berlin. The award, honoring the memory of Shimon Peres and the special friendship between Israel and Germany, is presented to German-Israeli cooperation projects, which have made an outstanding contribution to the shaping of German-Israeli relations.

The Global Goals Forum

took place on 10 October 2019 at the Berlin representative office of Telekom. 370 representatives from policy, business, and civil society got together for the event hosted by Global Compact Network Germany (DGCN) and macondo foundation. The forum entitled “Agenda 2030: Is Time Running Out?” took stock of the progress and need for action regarding the implementation of the SDGs four years after their adoption by the global community. A lively and engaging exchange on the topics of corporate responsibility, fair globalization, and climate change took place in the form of speeches, panels, and workshops. greenstorming supports the DGCN since 2018 in the execution of its regularly occurring participant conferences.

Digital Kontrovers!

is an event series from the BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), which revolves around questions on digitalization in development cooperation. Two opposing experts engage in a discussion with each other and the audience on issues like blockchain, artificial intelligence, drones, and digital workspaces. How do these new tools and technologies alter traditional development cooperation? What opportunities do they offer? What risks do they entail? Workshops on good practices in unarmed civilian protection (UCP) by Nonviolent Peaceforce

Since late 2017, the non-governmental organization Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) has been convening a series of regional workshops to strengthen all types of work of nonviolent protection of civilians in the midst of violent political conflicts. The facilitated 3-days workshops are based on the experiences of the participating practitioners and focus on learning from the various organizations and different contexts in which the participants work. The goal of the workshop series is to compile a collection of good practices both to improve existing field work and to help organizations starting in civilian protection. So far, workshops have been held in Asia (the Philippines), the Middle East (Lebanon) and Africa (Kenya). The next workshops are planned for South/Central America and North America/Europe. Since the beginning of 2018, greenstorming has been assisting NP with the workshop preparations pro bono.

The solution conference “Chain2Sustain - Supply Chains, Digital Technologies and Traceability”

on November 29, 2018, presented current applications of emerging digital technologies in global supply chains with a focus on blockchains and surrounding technologies. Chain2Sustain revolved around solution workshops in which 140 actors from development cooperation, blockchain and digital startups, public institutions and corporations were actively working on issues related to global supply chains with the aim of finding suitable solutions. The conference was hosted by GIZ Blockchain Lab and BMZ.
